Star Spot with Alice Jackson – 13-Year-Old Country Singer
Welcome to an Exclusive Star Spot Interview with Alice Jackson: Oklahoma’s Rising Country Star
At just 13 years old, Alice Jackson has already made her mark as one of the youngest breakout talents in country music. Hailing from Oklahoma, this young prodigy has captured hearts with her powerful vocals, old-school charm, and authentic storytelling. Inspired by icons like Elvis Presley, Dolly Parton, and Shania Twain, Alice blends traditional country roots with her own youthful spark.
In this Star Spot episode, we sit down with Alice to talk about her creative process, performing at Graceland, balancing school and stardom, and her dream of touring the world.
Let’s dive into her journey.
Can you tell us how you first discovered your love for music?
My love for music started right here in my hometown. I grew up surrounded by local musicians, and watching them perform inspired me a lot. Eventually, I decided to take voice lessons, and that really sparked my passion. Once I started singing, I knew this was what I wanted to do.
Who are some of the artists or role models that inspire you the most?
My biggest inspiration is probably Elvis Presley. I also love country legends like Dolly Parton and Shania Twain.
Which Dolly Parton song is your favorite?
Wildflowers.
Can you walk us through your creative process when writing music at your age?
Sometimes lyrics just come to me in random moments—like even while washing my face! For example, just yesterday a song idea popped into my head. I’ll usually hum the melody, write it down, then grab my guitar and figure out the chord progression. Before I know it—boom, there’s a new song.
Are you working on any new music right now?
Yes, I am! It’s still in the process and hasn’t been recorded yet, but I’m really excited about it.
Has there been a performance that was especially memorable for you?
Singing at Graceland, Elvis’s house, was unforgettable. I’m in orchestra at school, and we performed Can’t Help Falling in Love. My mom sent it to Graceland, and they invited me to their Junior Performer Showcase. I got to travel to Memphis for three days and perform—it was such a fun and special experience.
Of all your achievements so far, which one are you most proud of?
Honestly, winning my first music award. That was such a huge moment for me.
How did you first hear about the InterContinental Music Awards?
I actually just found ICMA on Instagram.
And how was your experience with ICMA?
Amazing. It was such a blessing to be recognized at such a young age.
What challenges have you faced so far in your music career, and how have you overcome them?
One of my biggest challenges has been balancing school and music. I’ve also had to deal with some negativity and hate at school. But I don’t engage with it—I just stay focused on my music.
How do you balance school, family, friends, and your music career?
Honestly, I don’t hang out with friends too much because music takes up most of my time. I love school, but I feel like it sometimes takes up too much time since I already know I want to pursue music.
Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
Not in school! (laughs) I see myself touring the world, singing my music, and sharing my gift with audiences everywhere. I want to be famous.
Do you have a dream stage or an artist you’d love to collaborate with?
My dream stage would be right here at home—the Paycom Center. I’ve performed the national anthem there for the Oklahoma Thunder basketball team, but I’d love to do a full concert someday. For collaborations, I’d love to work with another country artist.
What message would you like to share with your fans and other young musicians?
I love y’all so much. I know things can feel tough at times, but you’ve got to keep working. If you quit, you’ll never achieve your dreams. Hard work pays off, and the rewards are always greater than the struggles.
Any last words you’d like to share with your fans and our viewers?
Thank you so much to the InterContinental Music Awards. Winning my first music award at just 13 was such a blessing. When I first found out, I went completely insane—I literally jumped in the pool with all my clothes on! (laughs) It means so much to me, and I’m just so grateful.
