Martaâs astonishing instrumentalism, distinctive voice and captivating presence take her audience into a magical world of musical storytelling. Marta studied guitar in JBJAZZ and voice in Hot Clube de Portugal. At LusĂada University of Lisbon, Marta completed a degree in Jazz and Modern Music, specializing in guitar. With her graduation she became the first female jazz guitarist of Portugal. Marta has created a variation of projects such as a storytelling show, musical theater performances, a cultural festival, her band âMaZĂ©iâ, her solo project âMarta and The Boatâ and, most recently, a collaboration with Austrian double bassist Andreas Amann.
After Martaâs first album âAlcanchaisâ with MaZĂ©i (2017), in the last years she has released the singles âĂ Amor Todo, Ă Amor Ăs Vezesâ(2018), âĂxodoâ (2019),âEsmeraldaâ (2021), and her second album âChristmas with Martaâ (2020). Her third album âMarta and the Boat â Live from the Middle of the Atlanticâ (2022) captures her solo-project âMarta and the Boatâ live from Lava Jazz Club on the Azores islands. Martaâs most recent release comprises âThe Higher Hopeâ, âBedtime Memoryâ, âGuess Whatâ and âWorry Freeâ (EP, 2023).
